WOMEN'S NATIONAL CHAMP MIDDLEBURY DOMINATES 2000-2001 JOFA/AHCA COLLEGE DIVISION ICE HOCKEY ALL-AMERICANS

Division III national champion Middlebury College accounted for half of this year's JOFA Women's College Division Ice Hockey First Team All-Americans announced today by the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA). All six of the First Team selections came from the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC), three of which were Middlebury standouts. St. Mary's University, which plays in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC), placed three players on the second team.

Leading the honorees is Middlebury senior forward Michelle Labbe, this year's College Division Player of the Year, who earned First Team All-American status for the third consecutive year. The Panthers' junior defenseman, Catherine Elkins, is also a three time First Team choice.

The Jofa All-Americans are chosen by members of the American Hockey Coaches Association. Of the 12 players earning Women's University Division All-American status this year, only two are seniors, four are juniors, four are sophomores and two are freshmen. Eight different schools are represented on the two squads.
