WAYNE WILSON OF RIT IS MEN'S ICE HOCKEY COLLEGE DIVISION COACH OF THE YEAR

For his efforts in leading Rochester Insitute of Technology to a 27-1-1 season and a berth in the NCAA Division III championship game, Wayne Wilson of RIT has been chosen by his peers as the National Men's Ice Hockey College Division Coach of the Year. He will receive the Edward Jeremiah Award next month in Florida.

The Tigers enjoyed a near-record regular season in 2000-2001, the lone loss being a 6-2 decision to Plattsburgh in the national championship game on March 17.

A native of Guelph, ONT, Wilson was graduated from Bowling Green in 1984 and later spent 13 years as an assistant for his alma mater before coming to Rochester in 1999.

The runner-up in this year's College Division Coach of the Year ballotting was Bob Emery, head coach of the NCAA Division III champions from SUNY Plattsburgh.

College hockey's Coach of the Year recipients are chosen by members of the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA). Winners will receive their awards at the annual AHCA Coach of the Year Banquet, held in conjunction with the AHCA Convention in Naples, FL. This year's banquet is scheduled for Saturday, April 28.
