Salem State’s Bill O’Neill Captures Career Win #400
Margot Page and Dave Hornack Reach #100

Since our last issue, three member coaches have enjoyed milestone victories:

• Salem State’s Bill O’Neill won his 400th game on December 28 when the Vikings defeated Worcester State, 4-3, in overtime. O’Neill has compiled a career mark (as of January 17) of 401-238-37. His 401 wins make him the fourth winningest coach among active Division III coaches (behind Mike McShane of Norwich, Bill Beaney of Middlebury, and John Dunham of Trinity.)

A 1979 graduate of Boston University, O’Neill played on the Terriers’ 1978 NCAA Championship team.

• Margot Page won her 100th game at Niagara on December 10 when the Purple Eagles defeated Union, 7- 1. Page has a career mark (as of January 17) of 102- 100-18 in seven years at Niagara.

• With a 4-1 win over #15 Kent State last month, Head Coach Dave Hornack recorded his 100th career victory at #14 Washington & Jefferson.

“It’s a neat milestone, but I’d rather focus on our next opponent. Without a team effort from the players, administration and the entire coaching staff, no hockey program could be successful. Any coaching milestone reflects the people around you.”

With the win, Hornack has amassed a 100-49-6 alltime mark in five seasons as Head Coach, good for a winning percentage of .665.

Hornack is the only coach the Presidents have had as a Division I team. The Presidents were non-ACHA during his first year.

A 1983 graduate of Penn State University with a degree in sports management, Hornack concluded his career serving as captain of the Icers in the 1982 and 1983 seasons.
